IncrediWorld - The Set Up @Metrotabernacle

This was the first sight that greeted us as we enter into the INCREDIWORLD AMAZEMENT PARK! From Nov 22-24, it was an amazing journey for us as we took steps to partner with the Children Church of Metrotabernacle to conduct the first-ever Answers-in-Genesis VBS here in Malaysia!
This Stegosaurus was kindly given by a kindergarten who did a dino-project - we recycled it to create an environment for the Dino Day during the VBS lessons. Children are naturally fascinated with dinosaurs and to show them that the Bible has lots to say about these creatures and how their fossils tie in with the Gospel message of sin and death was really an eye-opening moment for them!
The deco team at Metrotabernacle really went the extra mile and even put in a roller-coaster display to enhance the fun-fair atmosphere of the VBS.
We even had a Q&A box for children with questions to ask - I had such joy to provide answers to questions like - "How could all the animals fit on Noah's Ark?", "How did Job know about the dinosaurs if they died in the flood?", "How did the dinosaurs go extinct?", "Do ghosts exists?", "What about cave men?", etc. I was utterly surprised that the children (aged from 6-12) were all thinking actively about questions on origins - they have been waiting for a moment like this to ask them!

Game stalls, Craft Rooms and also Dino Info Cards plastered in open areas for easy viewing. There is much we can learn about the Creator from His wonderful creation!
Also, we had top-notched classrooms to conduct the WOW (World-of-Wonders) session. The unique approach of this VBS is that the children are divided into three age groups (6-7, 8-9, 10-12) where we can tailor the apologetics teaching relevant to their understanding. As you shall see in the later blog postings, these teaching sessions are key to opening up their hearts to the Gospel message.

First-Ever AiG VBS in Malaysia (IncrediWorld 2012)!

We are thrilled to be a part of the inaugural creation-themed VBS (Vacation Bible School) at MetroTabernacle next month (Nov 22-24)! Through the leadership support from Pastor Nancy and Pastor Seok, we are grateful for the wonderful team of children church leaders that we are working with - not to mention the local Answers Academy team as well. We look forward to a wonderful and faith-building ride ahead - stay tuned...

Fellowship with a World Record Holder

Had a wonderful time of dinner fellowship with Benny Prasad - world record holder of being the person who traveled to the most number of countries in the shortest possible time. Check this out : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMoWAU5Lre8

He was such a blessing to the All-Asian Conference 2011 last year - Thanks Dr.Crandall for connecting us to this humble servant of Jesus Christ. It is not everyday that you meet an artist with inward values that matches his outward performance. By having a spirit of excellence in our gifts, we then have a credible platform for sharing the Gospel. Keep shining, Benny!

Creation Seminar Part 2 & 3 @Grace Assembly Klang (11, 18 September)

Concluded two more sessions at Grace Klang covering topics of the Global Flood, Dinosaurs and the Origins of Mankind. One thing I really enjoy about the historical accounts in Genesis - it generates lots of participation and questions! What I have learnt so far about conducting Creation Seminars is that it must be more conversational in nature rather than direct one-way preaching. Come, let us reason together.....

Creation Seminar Part 1 @Grace Assembly Klang (4 September)

Many thanks to Pastor Ronald and his leadership at Grace Assembly Klang for inviting us for a series of Basic Creation Seminar to be conducted over three Tuesday evenings. For the first topic - the focus was on the importance of the right starting point and how evolution is more than just an intellectual issue - it is actually a justification for a lifestyle that proclaims freedom from the One True Creator. We had fun!

Homeschooling Family Trip @Benum Hill Resort (30 August)

As part of the World Studies Club activities amongst homeschooling families, we attended a 3 day 2 night teambuilding camp at Benum Hill Resort in Pahang. During the first evening, we were given the opportunity to do a presentation for the children with the title - "Dinosaurs - Have We Been Brainwashed?" Dinosaurs are such a connecting tool to communicate Biblical truth about death, sin and most importantly the Gospel solution!

Basic Creation Seminar @Kajang AOG (26 August)

We had an amazing Sunday at Kajang AOG from 2.30-5.30pm with an overwhelming group of about 170 people who came with plenty of interest (and questions) in the area of Creation Apologetics. The one main motivating concern is this : How are we equipping the younger generation to stand firm in an information age where all sorts of worldviews are being "preached" each day through popular media? The Basic Creation Seminar addresses this issue by establishing the full authority of the Bible as a reliable historical account of origins right from the very first verse!

Goal Setting @Haggai Institute Seminar in Penang

Am privileged to be conducting my third session of "Goal-Setting & Evangelism" with the Haggai Institute Alumni Association of Malaysia here in Penang. Every time I lead in this topic, it is such a fresh reminder to myself as to whether if I am still walking (and running) close to the vision which God has revealed to me (Habakkuk 2:2). The word of God is true - "he that waters shall be watered also himself" (Proverbs 11:25).

18 graduates from 5 countries (Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Singapore & Thailand)! Proudly displaying their certificate of completion during the graduation night. Great job from the Penang Chapter of the Haggai Institute Alumni!

Basic Creation Seminar @Glad Tidings Klang (4 August)

Our deep felt appreciation to Pastor Vin and her team for putting together an extraordinary effort in organizing the 3-hour Basic Creation Seminar at Glad Tidings Klang. We had over 160 people who came - comprising adults, youth and children. The hunger to learn the connection between Scripture and the world of Science and History and around us is amazing - certainly God has designed us with a need for intellectual integrity!
With every seminar conducted, I am so grateful for the team that have worked hard behind the scene - helping with the resource sale, answering questions, providing powerful prayer support and also by just being there - every volunteer who turns up is such a joyful encouragement!
As we serve, we look forward to the training of the younger generation who will serve along side with us and be build up in their faith to stand up the authority of Scripture - starting from the very first verse!

The Initiative of Dicky @FGCC (28 July)

Appreciate the efforts of Dicky Sudrajah, an elder at FGCC (Fresh Generation Community Church) in Sunway who spearheaded a series of classes based on the Demolishing Strongholds video package from Answers in Genesis. It is heartening to see the young people coming back week after week to gain confidence that Scripture does give a logical worldview on issues of origins and history. Keep up the good work Dicky!
A personal gift of books for Dicky to further his study in the Creation Apologetics ministry! May the Lord establish the work of his hands as he continue to work with the next generation of leadership at FGCC.

Parenting Talk @Royal Klang Club (30 June)

Did a 1-hour plus talk on "Seasons of Parenting" at the Royal Klang Club - organized by Bethany Chapel Klang as part of their community outreach efforts. Had a really, fun interactive time with all who came. A timely reminder that while we exercise leadership in the marketplace, why are we not exercising it at home? For more information about upcoming parenting workshops, go to : http://www.goodmonday.com/parenting.html

Bible vs Science? @Subang Jaya AG Young Adults (29 June)

Bible vs Science - this is a popular misconception where many think that to believe in the Bible is to take a stand that is anti-intellectual. Far from it! Though a small group, we appreciate the opportunity to speak to young adults at Subang Jaya AG where we made an emphatic claim that Science and Scripture is not at odds at each other. It is the humanistic philosophy of man that is at the root of contention! So much of what is disguised as science are actually humanistic, anti-God presupposition and worldview.

Home Sharing in Singapore (16 June)

At the invitation of Lawerence and Regina Fong - who is part of an established homeschooling network in Singapore, we had the opportunity to present a short talk in their home entitled - "Spotting Lies in Textbooks". The parents and children who turned up are part of the group who have been attending a week long speech and debate camp organized by Ethos (a group specializing in training Christian young people in their speaking, debating and thinking skills). Having homes like that of the Fongs opened up for ministry and fellowship is reminiscent of how the early church started in the Book of Acts. Perhaps, it is time for families to reclaim their home as a center for ministry!

Young Adult Session at DUMC (1 June)

As part of the monthly HiYA (Highly Influential Young Adult) event in Damansara Methodist Utama Church (DUMC), we were invited back for the third time to speak. This time round we dealt with the age of the earth and the how Noah's flood washes away the millions of years. The greatest reward I get from such sessions is contained in a typical feedback - "Thanks for bringing such clarity to the Word of God. I now see the Bible's history with more confidence and how it all connects with the world around me."

Confidence in the authority of Scripture beginning with Genesis will spark off all sorts of enthusiasm in other areas including discipleship and evangelism. On a lighter note, I am grateful for my family - willing to stay back late - even if it means creating a makeshift rest on the chair!

Amazing Response Part Three (31 May)

This is the final session at Grace Assembly Petaling Jaya when we concluded with the topic of "Human Origins and One Race". Unlike a normal church service, we appreciate the high degree of interaction and participation - from both young and old. It's amazing to see how interested people are with regards to where we come from and how science catches up with Scripture when it comes to matters of human origins. The media is not short in telling us the story of evolution and "cave-men" but is the church providing a credible and Biblical alternative?

Amazing Response Part Two (24 May)

As a continuation from last week's session at Grace Assembly Petaling Jaya, we continued on with a new topic yesterday evening - "Dinosaurs and the Flood". We are truly amazed at the turnout on a weekday evening - with more coming compared with the previous session. I was encouraged when a senior church leader is now seriously reconsidering his previously held old-age view of the earth after the presentation on theological inconsistency of the "million of years" view of origins.

Amazing Response at Grace Assembly PJ (17 May)

Due to the persistent "marketing" effort from James Hoh (who recently returned from the Creation Museum), we had an "amazing grace" experience at Grace Assembly PJ as more than 200 people turned up, despite the fact that it was a Thursday evening seminar. If it wasn't for the collaborative effort from my wife, daughters and Angeline (James' wife) - we could not have managed the resource sale at the end of the seminar. Bad news - we ran out of stock for some of the popular titles like the Answers Pack but the good news is this - the senior pastor, Ps.Henry invited us to come back for two more sessions to complete the 7C's of Biblical History. We are truly amazed at the spiritual hunger and interest. To God be the Glory!

Creation @Bandar Sunway Gospel Center (4, 5 May)

Our first Creation Seminar after the Nepal trip. We have always enjoyed sharing in the Brethren churches because there is such a hunger to read and investigate - very much like the Bereans in Acts 17:11. Bandar Sunway Gospel Centre is no exception. It was also timely that the shipment from Answers in Genesis arrived and we had enough to "feed" the members who came for two nights. We are grateful for the well-designed resources of books and DVDs which serve to amplify the absolute authority of Scripture.

Mother's Day Special (13 May)

Quite a strange experience for me to share a Mother's Day message! Yet, we had a good time of laughter and interaction at Bethany Chapel Klang as we discoursed on the topic - "Five Basic Needs of a Mother". How we honor our wives and the mother of our children on a regular basis is more important that just setting aside a day every year. It is more a matter of consistency rather than commemoration.
Ended the day with a personal touch - here you see the mother of my own children also my own mother. Standing behind us - God willing - will be two future Godly mothers!

Before We Left Nepal (26 April)

Just the day before we are due to fly back home, we squeezed in two more training sessions - spending time with the teachers of New Life School at Covenant Christian Fellowship and also with the key youth leaders. The session with the youth leaders was very exciting because we had to work against "darkness" - due to the regular power outage in Nepal, I had to try and cover as much material as possible before it gets dark! Despite that, the enlightened look on the faces of the leaders really made the session worthwhile. May the principle of 2 Timothy 2:2 be true - commit you to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Amen.
